You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch, but you're also pretty funny.
A new billboard campaign promoting yet another adaptation of Dr. Seuss's morality tale have gone up around Los Angeles and they're exactly the kind of thing you'd expect from the grumpy Grinch.
The billboards have been spotted all around Los Angeles and feature dry, biting wit that will force you to rethink your life choices. For example, one ad spotted on the side of Metro buses features a photo of the Grinch with a withering, "Hope you don't miss that audition."
That's nothing compared to the savageness of a smirking Grinch "re-assuring" starry-eyed dreamers who moved to L.A. to achieve their dreams of fame and fortune with, "Of course you'll make it as an actor."
Haha - too real.
As far as viral marketing schemes, this one is pretty good. The billboards have struck a nerve with Los Angeles residents because they cut to an unspoken reality in Southern California. Sky-high rents, constant competition and traffic (oh, the traffic!), can wear on a Los Angeles resident's soul. The Grinch is just calling that reality out in the ads.
People in New York and Chicago are also being subjected to the Grinch's mental abuse by reminding them about that time they tried standing in line for Hamilton tickets.
Then again, it seems the Grinch prefers New Yorkers to Los Angeles.
