Bode Miller's Sponsored Pool Photo After Daughter Drowns

I think I get where he's going with this, but I'm guessing a lot of people won't. That's why (I assume) Miller disabled the comments on the post below. The sponsorship tags are raising the eyebrows. But if awareness is rising along with eyebrows then mission accomplished.

Olympic skier Bode Miller posted a photo to his Instagram page — that appeared to be sponsored by several companies — showing him playing in a pool with his 3-year-old son … nearly three months to the day his 19-month-old daughter drowned.

Miller can be seen in the photo about to catch his son and he captioned the photo, “Catching Nash celebrating the beginning of school #watersafer #swimmingpractice #galaxynote9.”

In addition to the hashtags, Miller tagged Samsung and Minnow Swim, a children’s swimwear company.

Perhaps sensing the post could be problematic, Miller disabled comments on the photo.

It is unclear if the photo was taken at Miller’s home in Orange County; the drowning occurred at their next door neighbor’s home in the town of Coto de Caza, California.

Bode Miller and his wife, Madison, shared the tragic news of their daughter’s passing on social media back in June, writing, “We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time.”
