Former IU basketball player Daryl Thomas Dies -52

Oh man bummer!! 

Daryl Thomas, a captain on Indiana University's 1987 national championship team and the man who assisted Keith Smart's iconic game-winning jumper against Syracuse, died from a heart attack Wednesday. He was 52.

"It’s a very sad day with the loss of such a great teammate, in Daryl," IU legend and 1987 teammate Steve Alford said through a UCLA spokesperson. "He was such a terrific person. I feel incredibly blessed to have been Daryl’s teammate and to call him my friend."
