John Fogerty is launching a new covers album of Creedence Clearwater Revival classics and other material performed by his family band.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer says he and his three youngest children, Shane, Tyler and Kelsy, formed the band while they were stuck in the house together during coronavirus pandemic lockdowns. The family four-piece has released a series of videos featuring performances of the classic tunes.
The album, Fogerty's Factory — a reference to CCR's classic 1970 album Cosmo's Factory ‚ arrives November 20.
"When the world stopped in March due to the pandemic, the news was bleak and scary," John said in a statement. "We were all unsure of everything we once knew or took for granted. However, it also brought many of us together, we soon found we had time we never had before."
He continued: "Our family wanted to do something that might bring a smile or help others, so [wife and manager] Julie suggested we bring music to ease some of the pain we were all feeling. ...This was a wonderful way of connecting with our family and fans through music."
In a conversation with Rolling Stone, John admitted that the performances on the album aren't perfect; he was easier on his kids than he was his original CCR bandmates.
"The spirit of the thing was to be fun," he emphasized. "It's supposed to sound like a jam."
Fogerty's Factory includes classic songs like "Centerfield," "Have You Ever Seen The Rain," "Proud Mary," "Fortunate Son" and more.
