Queen + Adam Lambert Announced First Album, 'Live Around The World'

Queen + Adam Lambert have expressed little interest in recording an album of new material, but after almost a decade together the powerhouse combo is presenting a recorded version of what they do best: rock live audiences in concert.

Queen + Adam Live Around the World will arrive October 2 in CD, vinyl and DVD/Blu-ray formats.

The release contains a compilation of Queen + Adam Lambert concert highlights from over 200 performances around the world, including concerts in Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas.

All formats include the band's entire 22-minute Fire Fight Australia set — one of the last concerts Queen + Adam Lambert performed this year — in which it reproduced the set from Queen's historic 1985 Live Aid appearance.

Guitarist Brian May says the release was partially motivated by the fact that the band's touring this year was cut short due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

"As we grapple with the challenge of creating live shows in a world dominated by a formidable viral enemy, it seemed the perfect time for us to create a collection of hand-picked live highlights from our Queen shows over the last seven years with our brother Adam Lambert," May said.

Lambert himself added, "When we couldn't tour this year we wanted to give the fans something in place of that, and a live album just felt right. It's the first time we have released an album together and we have had a lot of fun putting it together, picking out favorite performances over the past seven years."

Earlier in the worldwide COVID shutdowns, Queen + Adam Lambert released a lockdown version of "We Are the Champions," proceeds of which were donated to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.
